5 Steps to Letting Go and Moving Forward

🎉 First things first—Happy Birthday to my amazing husband aka Prince Charming! 🎉 Today, we’re celebrating you and all the love and laughter you bring into my life. Here’s to many more adventures together! 💖 Now, let’s dive into something that’s been on my mind lately…

As I navigate this new chapter of becoming an empty nester, letting go of my daughter as she heads off to college, I’ve realized that letting go applies to so many parts of life. Whether it’s your kids, clients, or even outdated habits, we’ve got to let go to grow. While it’s tough, sometimes you’ve just got to remind yourself that you’ve done the work and now it’s time for them to fly. Here are five ways to master the art of letting go (and look fabulous while doing it!):

1. Trust the Foundation You’ve Built

You’ve laid the groundwork—whether it’s raising your kids or guiding your clients. Now, it’s time to trust the process. You didn’t come this far to babysit every step. Trust that what you’ve instilled will see them through. Letting go is about giving space for them to show up and shine.

2. Release the Need for Control

Let’s face it, we all love to have our hands in everything, but sometimes holding on too tight just squeezes the life out of things. Letting go of control doesn’t mean you’re checked out—it just means you’re smart enough to know when to step back and let things unfold without stressing every detail.

3. Focus on the Present, Not the Past

Stop dragging old baggage into new situations. The past was great (or maybe it wasn’t), but dwelling on it keeps you from rocking the now. Focus on the present and the future, and leave those old habits or relationships that no longer serve you in the dust.

4. Acknowledge Your Emotions, But Don’t Set Up Camp

It’s totally okay to feel all the feels, but don’t unpack your bags and live in your emotions forever. Give yourself a moment to process, then dust yourself off and move forward. Growth isn’t about avoiding pain—it’s about using it as a stepping stone.

5. Redirect Your Energy Toward Growth

Let’s be real: once you let go, you’ll have all this new energy on your hands. Don’t waste it. Channel it into something that lights you up—a new project, a passion, or a personal goal. When you make space by letting go, life has a way of filling it with something even better.

Letting go may feel hard at first, but trust me, it’s a game changer. As I remind myself that my daughter is off thriving, I know that sometimes letting go is the best gift we can give—to ourselves and to others. So, take a deep breath, let go, and watch what amazing things come your way. You've got this!
